Quality Improvement Workbook for the Appropriate Use of Antipsychotics in Long-Term Care Homes
The Quality Improvement (QI) Workbook offers a foundational guide for teams in long-term care (LTC) settings to take the first steps in developing a quality improvement initiative, with examples focused on improving the appropriate use of antipsychotics. Developed by Healthcare Excellence Canada in partnership with Health Quality BC, the workbook provides practical exercises, templates and prompts to help teams plan, implement and sustain meaningful improvements in care.
How to use this workbook
Use the workbook on your own or with your team. It’s available in a fillable PDF format, or you can print and complete it by hand. Each section builds on the last, helping you define a problem, engage the right people, test and measure changes using Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, and plan for sustainability. Worksheets and templates are included to support every step. Each section includes a character limit. Make sure your text fits within the allotted space before printing.
Who is this workbook for
This workbook is for LTC leaders and care providers who work with residents, families, and care partners to form QI teams and identify problems, change ideas, and improvement aims. It covers foundational quality improvement topics such as applying improvement techniques, process planning, compiling measures, implementing and testing changes, and planning for sustainability.
