Healthcare Excellence Canada (HEC) is welcoming Denise McCuaig to its senior leadership team as Executive Director, Health Transformation and Capacity Building, effective March 26, 2023.
This new role is about working with partners to shape a future where everyone in Canada has safe, high-quality healthcare. She will lead a team that will provide a focal point for HEC’s work on patient safety, on equity, diversity and inclusion, and meaningful engagement of individuals, caregivers, and communities with lived experience of healthcare. They will also support healthcare leaders and teams across Canada to grow their ability to make improvements and sustain them.
“We’ve been fortunate to have Denise support Healthcare Excellence Canada as an Indigenous advisor since our inception and are thrilled that she is now joining our senior leadership team,” said Jennifer Zelmer, President and CEO of Healthcare Excellence Canada. “Her passion for equity, for meaningful engagement of patients and families, and for safer care – along with her rich experiences as a health executive – make her an excellent fit for this new role.”
“HEC’s values of partnering meaningfully, innovating courageously, acting with integrity and being inclusive closely align with my own values and with the ways I have witnessed HEC staff approach this important work,” said Denise. “I look forward to playing a small part in supporting them to grow and implement these perspectives across HEC teams and alongside our partners.”
