Presentation: Adult Addictions Advisory Committee

This presentation was delivered in March 2019, by Tracy Muggli and Shane Partridge (co-chairs of the Adult Addictions Advisory Committee, Saskatchewan Health Authority) at the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement’s Diversity in Patient Engagement Learning Exchange event.

The presenters shared a case study about collaborating with individuals, families and staff to enhance the service experience and recovery process for patients using mental health services, and their loved ones. They prioritized their lived experience voice through co-leadership and co-design.

The collaborative process includes recognizing the different phases of a recovery journey, the importance of meeting people where they’re at, and ensuring a 2:1 ratio for patient and family members, and mental health and addictions services staff.
