Term: Temporary Full-Time (12 months contract)
Reports to: Director, IT & Knowledge Management
Salary Range: $90,357 - $112,946 - $135,535 (typical hiring range: $96,000 - $107,000)
Location: We are a pan-Canadian healthcare organization and welcome candidates from across Canada. Our head office is located in Ottawa, Ontario and we welcome flexible work options such as permanent/fully remote, hybrid, flexible work hours, and compressed work weeks.

The IT Specialist, Microsoft 365 is responsible for leading the development and implementation of HEC’s IT knowledge management strategy, as well as providing expert guidance on enterprise architecture for its Microsoft 365 environment and applications (SharePoint, Power Platform, Teams, OneDrive, etc.). This includes creating and implementing policies, procedures and guidelines that align with HEC’s strategic objectives, legislation, and best practices related to knowledge and information management. In this multi-faceted role, the IT Specialist, Microsoft 365 will also have a strong focus on privacy, compliance, security, and client support. The incumbent will provide end-user training, partner with internal stakeholders to standardize knowledge management practices, and help drive change throughout the organization.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement the IT knowledge management strategy for Microsoft 365, including policies, procedures, and systems to capture, store, and share knowledge effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize knowledge management, privacy, and security initiatives, and ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes for knowledge sharing, including Centres of Excellence (COE), training programs, and other knowledge-sharing initiatives using Agile methodologies.
  • Provide expert guidance and support for enterprise architecture in M365, including defining and documenting technical standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive architecture roadmap for various apps in M365, with a focus on privacy and security, including identifying and prioritizing opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and develop appropriately configured solutions that meet those needs while maintaining alignment with overall HEC IT standards and principles.

Education and experience you will need to have:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Science or a related field is required, College diploma with equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT knowledge management, enterprise architecture, or related field with a focus on privacy and security.
  • Proficient in M365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Forms, Flow, Power BI, Power Platform, Dynamics), Microsoft certification an asset.
  • Experienced working in a Cloud-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles in M365, including architecture frameworks and governance models.
  • Knowledge of privacy and security best practices and related technologies, including data protection, encryption, access control, data classification, and data retention.
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern security frameworks and principles.
  • Bilingual in French and English is preferred (English communication skills at Advanced “C” level required).
  • Understanding of Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience leading small-medium size projects.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and Dataverse is an asset.
